See the fair odds hiding behind the sportsbook's vig

Enter every side of a market and the Vig Remover strips out the sportsbook's margin to show the no-vig fair odds and true implied probability. Then type the price you are actually being offered and it tells you the expected value, a Kelly stake, and whether the edge is yours. Free, no account needed.

How the Vig Remover works

Everything recomputes as you type, so there is no calculate button

  1. 1

    Enter the sharp market

Type every side of the market from a sharp book: two-way, three-way or wider. Select the side you are backing. The tool needs all the sides, because a three-way with two prices entered reads as far less juiced than it is.

  2. 2

    Remove the vig

The implied probabilities of a book's prices add up to more than 100%. That excess is the hold. The devig method you choose redistributes it, leaving a fair probability and a fair American price for every side.

  3. 3

    Compare your price

Enter the price a different book will actually let you bet. The verdict shows the expected value, a Kelly stake for your bankroll, and the price you would need to break even if the edge is not there.

What is inside

The same devig math that powers the Positive EV board, exposed for one line at a time

Four devig methods

Multiplicative scales every side by the same factor. Additive takes the same probability off each. Power fits an exponent to the prices, and Shin models a book defending against informed money.

Worst-case by default

The default mode runs all four methods and reports the least favourable answer. It is the conservative read: if a bet clears here, it clears under every method.

Show all, or blend them

Show all lays every method's fair probability, fair price and EV side by side in one table. Weighted average takes an equal-weight blend of the four instead.

Parlays, leg by leg

Switch to Parlay and add legs as rows, or paste them in shorthand like -110/-110, +150/-180. Each leg is devigged on its own and the fair values multiply out to the headline number.

Boosts and free bets

Toggle on a profit boost and enter the percentage; it is applied to profit, not the whole return. Flip Free bet and the tool prices only the profit and shows what the free bet is worth.

Kelly stake sizing

Set a bankroll and a Kelly multiplier once and every result carries a stake in dollars and the EV in dollars. Defaults are a $1,000 bankroll at quarter Kelly, remembered between visits.

Want the devig done for you on every market? Try Positive EV

The Vig Remover is the manual version of what the Positive EV board does automatically: strip the vig from every two-sided market, compare each sportsbook against fair, and rank the lines that beat it.

Who the Vig Remover is for

  • Bettors checking one line

You saw a price you like and want to know whether it beats the sharp market before you bet it. Two prices in, a verdict out.

  • Promo hunters pricing a boost

A profit boost or a free bet changes what a price is worth. Enter the boost and the tool tells you the real EV and the stake to use.

  • Anyone learning the math

The Reading the output glossary under the tool explains market juice, why every side matters, and how the four devig methods differ, so the numbers make sense rather than just appear.

Frequently asked questions

What is vig in sports betting?

Vig, also called juice, hold or overround, is the sportsbook's built-in margin. At -110 on both sides of a spread each price implies a 52.4% chance, so the two sides add up to 104.8%. That extra 4.8% is the vig.

How do you remove the vig from odds?

Convert every side of the market to an implied probability, add them up, then redistribute the amount over 100% so the sides sum to exactly 100%. The simplest way is to divide each probability by the total; the Vig Remover also offers additive, power and Shin methods.

Which devig method should I use?

Worst-case is the default and the safest: it runs all four methods and shows the least favourable result. Multiplicative is the classic normalization, additive is kinder to favourites, and power and Shin assume the margin is not spread evenly, usually landing between the other two.

Why do I need to enter every side of the market?

Because the vig is the gap between the sum of all the sides and 100%. Leave one side out of a three-way market and the tool sees less margin than there really is, so the fair value comes back too generous.

How is the Vig Remover different from the Odds Converter?

The Odds Converter translates one price between American, decimal, fractional and implied probability, and that implied probability still includes the book's margin. The Vig Remover takes every side of a market and strips the margin out to reach the fair, no-vig odds.

Can I use it for parlays and promo boosts?

Yes. Switch to Parlay to enter several legs, each with all of its sides, and the fair probabilities multiply out. Add a profit boost percentage or switch on Free bet and the expected value and stake are recalculated for that offer.

Which plan includes the Vig Remover?

The Vig Remover is a free tool, open to everyone whether or not you are signed in. It is listed under Basic Tools on every Locktopus plan.
